My water boiler's heating metal at the bottom is crusted with something?
I've used the same boiler for about almost a year now but the part where heats the water (at the bottom, looks like coiled metal) has this weird crust crusted around it...it seems like if i boiled more water, i could get cancer from this.....
MinerAl deposits have to be on the inside of boilers. I assume you cant see the inside of your boiler?
Also Most are either brass, copper-nickel, or cast iron or steel. The latter types of heat exchangers can have scale cake up on and in the burner area. However, getting cancer from I assume dringking HOT water?? The item I have seen most often in water heaters is part of the heat exchanger or a flame spreader sepperate or flake and deteroriate but its not in the water. If you hear a "spppiissshhh" everynow & then you have a crack and water is leaking out and causing this deteroation.
As to Cancer...
We are all going to get something and eventually we will die, no ones getten outa this world alive. But cancer from drinking hot water, steel or Iron I bet someone has a study that says you can and will die from it or be poisend by it, or get cancer. Now if you choose to believe them you will probably get something sometime or another but I dont think so. What ever happened to common sence, its so uncommon. And dont think Im trying to embrass you Im not. I find myself being shifted to "those in the know" all the time. But the more I hear from those people the more Im convienced they are educated beyond their inteligence. They have a bone to pick or a study to fund and a paycheck to make so they sacrifice truth and true science for power, a name for themselves and money.
We just leave it up to others that we think they know more than we do about whats good for us and then they take the lead we give them. And it goes on and on and on. Before you kinow it no one wants to talk about possibly global warming being natural. Its always the progressive countries that are to blame and man has made this clamity. If God wants anyone to do anything it is seek the truth. And discuss it openly. I dont believe your going to get cancer from Iron or Iron compounds unless they are a natural irritant to your body, then maybe but not til then.

Bathroom

Clothes washed in hard water often look dingy and feel harsh and scratchy. The hardness minerals combine with some soils to form insoluble salts, making them difficult to remove. Soil on clothes can introduce even more hardness minerals into the wash water. Continuous laundering in hard water can damage fibers and shorten the life of clothes by up to 40 percent.
Dishwashers
When washing dishes, especially in a dishwasher, hard water may cause spotting and filming on your crockery. The minerals from hard water are released faster when it comes into contact with heat, causing an increase in the amount of spotting and filming that occurs. This problem is not a health risk, but it can be a nuisance to clean and reduce the quality of your crockery.
Problems in Water Boiler Systems and Pipework
Hard water also contributes to inefficient and costly operation of water-using appliances. Heated hard water forms a scale of calcium and magnesium minerals (limescale deposits) that can contribute to the inefficient operation or failure of water-using appliances. Pipes can become clogged with scale that reduces water flow and ultimately requires pipe replacement. Limescale has been known to increase energy bills by up to 25%
Limescale in Solar Heating Systems
Solar heating, often used for heating swimming pools is prone to limescale buildup, which can reduce the efficiency of the electronic pump and therefore the overall systems performance will deteriorate. There are low cost solutions to this problem which prevents limescale build up and over time will remove existing deposits completely.
In Industry
Hard water contributes to scaling in boilers, cooling towers and other industrial equipment. In these industrial settings, water hardness must be constantly monitored to avoid costly breakdowns. Hardness is controlled by addition of chemicals and by large-scale softening with zeolite resins and ion exchange resins.
