Electric blanket vs space heater?
I live in a house that doesn't have air or heat on the second floor where my bedroom is. I have a window unit for when its hot but I'm out of luck when its cold. I also have high ceilings and two balcony doors on the front of my room that are poorly insulated. I have to wear layers of clothing and use tons of blankets to even be moderately warm at night. I'm trying to decide between buying an electric blanket or a space heater?
I have a kitten so I'm worried about safety issues with having a space heater sitting out. I also don't want to buy a super expensive space heater so I'm worried about quality if I buy a cheaper one--will a $20 space heater even work adequately?
I'm thinking about buying an electric blanket instead but they seem like an outdated concept to me. Are they safe? Will they keep me sufficiently warm at night?

I don't recommend a space heater when you are going to be asleep. It would be fine to use one to 'take the chill off' your room or start it up when you get up, though.
An electric blanket works very well without costing you too much to buy or in electrical usage. Your kitten will enjoy it if it sleeps with you in bed.
I have a space heater that you can set to a certain temp and a timer to turn it off but its very expensive to run and I still would not trust it when unattended or asleep, much like a candle.
