Using too much propane?

Not the wtr htr also lines from tank to appliances have tested good 3 times please help it is not only eating my lunch but my kids' as well oh i had a tech look at the unit but it was same guy that installed unit he didnt find anything he is an extremely nice guy but he acts like he doesnt know what he is doing and i have 0 confidence in his hvac capabilities thank you so much help is greatly appreciated
I used to sell propane and heating oil. I have a program that I used all the time for computing propane consumption. I plugged in the following numbers...
100,000 btu furnace running 20 minutes out of every hour, and a 35,000 btu water heater running 10 minutes out of every hour. That works out to a consumption of 282 gallons per month. These numbers ARE accurate.
100,000 btu's will burn (roughly) 1 gallon every hour. You need to take an hour and time how long these appliances are actually operating. From that, you can calculate your consumption.
That sounds like a pretty big furnace for 1700 square feet. And if it's only an 80% efficient model it probably wasn't installed yesterday. I would never tell someone to throw away a perfectly good furnace, but if it is an older unit, you might consider upgrading to a new high efficiency model. It could be worth doing sooner than later if you plan on staying in that home for a few years at least.
But...I'm sorry to say, those actual consumption numbers are pretty much normal for what you have there.
