What is the new gear ratio for BMX bikes?

I used to bike about 15 years ago (1994 - 1997) and used a 16T freewheel and a 38T-45T sprocket/chainwheel (depending on whether or not I'm racing). I'm piecing together an old bmx bike and am seeing really small chainwheel/freewheel combinations; like 10T freewheels and 28ish tooth sprockets. What's the "norm" for today's standards? Is there anything special I need to know when buying a crank? I want to get the Profile bmx cranks (http://www.danscomp.com/452553.php?cat=PARTS), and I know my frame (Redline Proline XL) needs the standard american bottom bracket. Any help is appreciated! Oh, and does anyone know of any trials around Seattle?
I want to add that I live in Seattle and it's very hilly here, so I'm looking for somewhat of an easier gear, NOT something equivalent to a racing setup like 45T sprocket/16T freewheel combo. Is 25/9 an "easier" gear? Thanks for the input.

Ok ok....

Your old bike you used either a 45t sprocket or a 38t sprocket with a 16t freewheel cog...

45/16 = 2.8125:1 gear ratio

38/16 = 2.375:1 gear ratio

Obviously you felt a difference....it was harder to start pedaling from a stand still with the 45/16 gearing then it was with the 38/16 gearing but,you had a higher top speed with the 45/16 then you did with the 38/16 gearing.

The popular one now a days is pretty much 25/9 gearing

25/9 = 2.77:1 gear ratio is similar to 45/16

I ride a 28t sprocket with a 14t freecoaster cog

28/14 = 2:1 gear ratio and this means I don't have a high top speed at all and I reach that top speed quick, but it is easier to ride/pedal out of tricks from a standstill.

I am thinking of getting a 22t or a 25t sprocket to switch up my gearing

25/14 = 1.78:1 gear ratio (even lower top speed then wat I get now,but even easier to peadal out of tricks or pedal from a stand still.

22/14 = 1.57:1 gear ratio.....even easier then the above gear ratio, but even less top speed.

To find an easier gear just do the math using different sized sprockets and cogs.

Here is a list of popular gear combos...

http://www.danscomp.com/serve.php?serve=faq&html=chainwheel_faqs.htm

Just take the number of teeth on the sprocket and divide it by the number of teeth on the cog...the lower the answer the easier to start to pedal but less top speed, the higher the answer the harder to start to pedal but more top speed.
